A'udhu billahi minash shaytanir rajim!
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Have you ever noticed that the first things you read, hear, or recognize about Islam are negative? Why is that? Even some of us present Islam to others in a very negative way. We are always telling people about what Islam forbids, or what you have to give up, or what you can't say, think, do, or feel. Think about how many people are turned off by this. This negative attitude even turns other Muslims off.
Instead of telling a sister "You can never show your hair in public again", offer her a suggestion on where to get a beautiful hijab. Instead of telling someone "You have to give up your non-Muslim friends", tell them about all the new friends that they will find at Jummah on Friday.
Don't make Islam out to be a way of life that requires segregation from all things in the society we live in. Sure, we must tell people of what Allah (swt) forbids and commands, but where is the harm in telling people of the pleasures of Islam? Would it not urk you to talk to someone and eveytime you said something, they tell you why it is wrong or why you can't do it? You really do catch more flies with honey that you do with vinegar.
So watch what you say about Islam as you may be the link in the chain that draws someone new nearer to or further away from Allah (swt) and Paradise.
Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraktuhu!
