Assalamo 3alaikom
I keep hearing this and that about Shi'as and all this talk has made me curious to research more on them. I already know what Sunnis (( especially Salafis)) think of them so I'd like to know what Shi'a themselves have to say.
I made a blog about a year ago which kinda scratched the surface and I had some very basic but good introductory responses from Kidman (( thanks a bunch)).
Am I interested in 'converting' to Shi'ism? No. I'm just interested in learning more about them, from them. Especially because I only hear one point of view and it kinda contradicts the things that some Shi'a have told me about their faith.
So if any of you know of good websites, scholars, books, etc that I can look into, I'd appreciate it.
Jazakallah Khair. :3

And even the shia have disagreements among themselves on certain subject. For example ( plez don't be offended because this is the only example I know) there is a debate within the shia group of who killed Ali and his family. Some shia claim it was Aisha and other shia claim that it wasn't Aisha. One story goes: Aisha was jealouse of Ali and declared war against him after the Prophet died.<--This story some ppl use to say that this proves she killed Ali's family because she was jealouse and made war against him. Another story goes: Before the Prophet died he told Aisha not to make war against Ali and if she did anything wrong she would hear dogs barking as a reminder that she was doing something that he told her not to do. So when Aisha declared war against Ali she heard the dogs barking and she realized she was doing something wrong.<-- Other shia use this story to prove her innocence. And once again I don't know how reliable this info. is I'm only posting what I was told by other relatives.
And some of them pray different than the sunni but not all of them. Like for example some of them will include this phrase in there prayer: "I testify that Ali is the vicegerent of Allah."
Some of my relatives who r shia said say that all of the caliphs before Ali whenever they did not know a answer to a question they relied on him for the answer. They also said that in the scholar schools they teach Ali's hadiths. Once again I'm only posting what my relative told me and I have no idea were they got this information or how reliable it is.
I bought a book on this subject a couple of days a go. I haven't read it yet and I'm not sure how reliable it is. This was the only book I could find on this subject. "The Heirs of Muhammad" by Barnaby Rogerson
I'm not really sure what the difference is but in my experiences I've have found the shia to be a little more friendly and excepting of converts rather than the sunnis. And please don't mistake any of my comments for talking bad about a specific group of ppl because i'm not I'm just saying that is the experience that I have had. My shia friend would consider me sunni but I would consider myself just "muslim" because I don't really understand the differences. I think sunni & shia r basically the same thing. However I noticed that some of my shia relative happen to be more involved into mystical charms like giving a newborn baby a blue stone to protect them from the evil eye. But my husband is shia and he doen't believe in that kinda stuff so i guess it depends on how there parents brought them up.... I'm not sure. But I think there r different kinds of shia ppl. There r ones who basically believe the same thing as sunni and then there r the ones that r more mystical. And plez don't be offended about what I say because I'm only repeating what I see my relatives doing. This statement does not necessarily represent shia as a whole. But it would be nice to have a shia who knows a lot on this topic to join in. My husband doesn't seem to b 2 knowlegable on this subject. And BIGPOPPA I thought it was not allowed in islam to call another person a non-muslim? This is not for you to decide this is for Allah to decide. Are you Allah? I don't think so. So plez stop insulting ppl.
Big Poppa, I knew that someone would eventually post that.I know that opinion already and I feel no need to read that again. I'd like to hear what shi'a have to say.
I think I'll make a blog in the near future to see how many people would participate in such a group.I noticed that the numbers of Shi'a and Sufi members have increased dramatically or they just quit being active. I honestly can't blame them. I'd get fed up too if whenever I stated my beliefs, someone insulted me for it.
Well I know of some open-minded and pretty active members on here. I would surely invite them to the group if it were created.
Yes I'm interested in learning more about Sufis. I have a Sufi friend who's showing me a lot of websites and whatnot so I can be more informed. And yes, I realised how almost all discussions about Sufism or Shi'ism, turn into some heated flame war.

Assalamu 3alaikum hope yall find yourself in the best of health and highest of imaan..
up to you ... study from the shi3as sources or ask a true shi3a... but when you study from their sources study the accurate sources *hint* i think it facilitate your quest about shiism if you asked an adherent of the shi3a faith to help you out in which are the trusted sources.
