people say that music is haram but Islamic music is not ...but what if a song was singing about a  poem that had nothing haram about it in it is it still haram? Now I have seen Islamic music videos and they had men singing witch some people say is haram and they have had wind and string instrument witch is haram so does that Islamic music that they are singing is it still halal or haram?

I do not think Music itself is forbidden, Music is poetry as you mentioned, but I do believe that if it speaks of anything that is forbidden in Islam it should not be listened to.Listen to the good music, without bad lyrics, I heard many beautiful songs about love or happiness that never had bad lyrics. Is Poetry haram? Then you will have people who say music is Haram, but probably the same people watch TV. TV has good or bad content depending on you, and/or play Video Games, etc., for that matter if they want to get serious about it, ask about Cars that pollute the earth also causing road rage, or Taxes. Taxes help military fund for ignorant reasons, etc. does that mean it is haram? if it in some way supports corruption?Instead maybe we should try to look at the benefit of something, and the Bad and maybe out way it on a scale or either abandon it altogether.Do not let material items bring you away from the true path of God, do not let these things be in your way to God or Humanity.Especially do not forget, this is first priority."It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah.fearing." Qur'an 2:177Does it say in the Qur'an that music, is forbidden clearly? I know that it's very clear on alcohol, murder, shirk, etc. But what about a clear reading in the Qur'an that forbids music?

Then some will use this verse against music:"But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty."Qur'an 31:6That was from the Yasuf Ali translation.and here is the same verse from a islamic site called http://muttaqun.com/music.html that is against music, they use the same verse."And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery.  For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-Fire)."See the what they added in it, (i.e. music, singing, etc.). They are trying to say idle talks means music. Here are the verses in context."6.But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty.""7.When Our Signs are rehearsed to such a one, he turns away in arrogance, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in both his ears: announce to him a grievous Penalty""8.For those who believe and work righteous deeds, there will be Gardens of Bliss..."In reality the above verses talks of the people who hear falsehood about Islam, they accept these lies, then reject the true path, and they think they are better than you. Do not hear there ignorance. So just do not let your path to God be interfered by anyone or anything. I do not see anything wrong with it as long as it will not make you astray.Peace to you Sister.

Best thing would be to ask a scholar inshaAllah, but below is a hadeeth. Don't go by what someone says our opinion does not matter look at what the Quran and sunnah says and it is what is may Allah make it easy for you in this life and in the hereafter ameen.Sahih Bukhari,Volume 7,Book 69-Drinks,Number 494v: Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: that he heard the Prophet (saw) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection."
