Happy Earth Day

Today's that cute little day that human beings made to think about the planet we were given. Sometimes I wonder if it is just a feel good day... nevertheless, happy earth day guys. Enjoy:

Few Headlines:
44 People Arrested in North Carolina Protesting Duke Energy's Cliffside Coal Plant
Five more arrested in the Coal River Valley
ELF Press Office to Obama: Release U.S. Political Prisoners

Deforestation of the Amazon Rain Forest

Washington State Deforesation

Great Pacific Garbage Patch aka Trash Vortex aka Northern Pacific Gyre (manmade toxic island).
It is twice the size of Texas. This is what happens when we become careless with our solid waste and the materials we use in our day to day lives such as plastics.

Mexico City
"In the 1990's, a child in Mexico City was more likely to color the sky brown than blue, due to the city's air being some of the most polluted on Earth."

ignorant Look up ignorant at Dictionary.com
c.1374, from O.Fr. ignorant, from L. ignorantia, from ignorantem, prp. of ignorare from in- "not" + Old L. gnarus "aware, acquainted with," from Porot-L. suffixed form *gno-ro-, related to gnoscere "to know" (see know). Form influenced by ignotus "unknown." Cf. also see uncouth. Colloquial sense of "ill-mannered" first attested 1886. Ignorance is attested c.1225, from O.Fr. ignorance, from L. ignorantia.

A lot of this environmental destruction can be avoided or at least softened if we just learn to live very conscious of our environment. Think twice about buying something full of plastic packaging, or buying toys and items that are made of inorganic materials.. that you don't really need (and may throw away later). Think long and hard about starting a compost pile instead of throwing your biodegradable food along with your inorganic rubbish that will never go away. Buy a canvas bag for your groceries and decline on plastic bags, take the bus, take a bicycle, walk. Go hiking or camping in the wilderness or in the park, take a good look at the blessings Allah has given us and ask yourself if it is worth being protected. Try to understand the life cycle and how you fit in it. Just 15 years ago, the great barrier reef and coral reefs weren't in jeopardy, everyone I knew was environmentally conscious about the rain forests, the ocean, and it was important to recycle. It is very important to promote a culture of sustainability, and to live in harmony with the environment. To give you an idea, the Anasazi failed to learn this, so did the Maya, and the Easter Islanders never learned this. The Mongols failed to learn sustainability with their pastoral culture this early on, and the Europeans failed to learn this during the dark ages (which resulted in the "Black Plague" aka bubonic plague). There are always consequences for our actions, even when that action is inaction of ignorance.

A lot of the images I come across.. I stopped collecting so many images as it is just so time consuming. I use the link feature in the blog section, collect the links and then upload them.
