Assalaamu 'alaikum,

Twenty four years ago today, I "officially" declared my Islam, and married my husband. MashaAllah, it is amazing how time passes so quickly. My husband and I never celebrate anniversaries, well, that is, he ignores them and I have learned to live with it, but this year I keep pondering how much time has passed and what I have done with it. It seems to me that 24 years ago I thought I would have done much more with my life. Islamicly, I truely wish I had done more, learned more. I wish we had made hajj before we got stuck in Palestine. (It's a long story, but if we leave, we will not be able to return, so we haven't left in 13 years, even to visit my family in the US.) My husband made hajj before we were married, so he was never in a hurry to do so. And after 24 years, I am ashamed to see how little Qur'an I have memorized, how little Arabic I have learned, how many weaknesses there still are in my ibada. Ya Rabbi, please forgive me and give me more time and help me to do better!

sorry didnt mean to offend you or anything its just you said you wish u had done more islamically.People like me and my family who live in the Uk always look as the people from the middle east as the religious ones i suppose especially the people from the Holy lands.I myself have been raising 6 kids with my wife over the past 15 years, rasing the kids making thier tarbiyah is also part of deen. Whats next for you is your question, well whats next is wha t has always been there for us To Learn Deen, to adopt deen and to propogate deen. If we look at our lives and the lives of our children we will see we need to make much effort as a lot of Islam is missing and inshallah you wil have grand children who will also need Islam etc...salams have a nice ramadhan

Assalaamu 'alaikum,Thanks for your kind words. This is my 25th Ramadan, since I fasted the Ramadan before I had fully decided to revert.

Well Alhumdulillah we still have time to improve ourselves. Better to realise now than later. One thing kind of strike s me though is that you being in Palestine etc I would have imagined would have made you more Islamic than anyone.Ma salams

Don't be too hard on yourself. You have accomplished what you were able to and had the desire in your heart to accomplish more, but we have worldly demands that restrict us. It sounds as if you have always made the jihad to improve, and that's all that any of us can do. (ps: this is my 31st Ramadhan since reverting)

Assalaamu 'alaikum,Well Artisan, I guess that depends on how you are judging your self and who you are comparing your self to. Reading about the lives of the sahaba shames me. I see some other "reverts" like me that went on to study Arabic, sharia, fiqh etc, and I wish I had done more. But raising 5 kids has been the focus of my life for the last 22 years, and now that they are getting mature, I have started to wonder what else I am supposed to do.
