There is no such thing as a "salafi muslim" (muslim of the salaf) in
today's time. In order to be a salaf, you had to live during the first
3 generations during and/or after the revelation of the Qur'an. To make
a sunnah out of calling yourself a salafi muslim is to state that 1)
you are of the first three generations of pious muslims after the ...
Read Morerevelation of the Qur'an and 2) you have potential for
division into a sect. One may use the word "Salafi Muslim" but not make
a sunnah/tradition out of it, as though it is a required part of the
religion.

41 : 33. And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is
Allâh (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon
His Order), and] invites (men) to Allâh's (Islâmic Monotheism), and
does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."
Those who adhere to dawat-us-salafiyyah best describe themself as a
"Muslim" whose minhaj (methodology/system) is Qur'an and Sunnah and
madhdhab (way) is that of the salaf. Read more at article http://muttaqun.com/salafiyyah.html#Salafi%20Muslims

Manhaj al-salaf and ahl ul-sunnah wal-jamaa'ah
My question is about manhaj salaf. I said that manhaj salaf was not different with Ahlus sunnah wal jama'ah. But my friends told that it was different. So, how do you think about that? What do you think about salafi ?
p>All Praise be to Allaah.
"Al-salaf" (the forefathers, or ones who passed before) are one and the same as "ahl ul-sunnah wal-jamaa'ah" (the followers of the sunnah and the united Islamic community). They comprise those who follow the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions (may Allaah be pleased with him), and adhere to their principles, beliefs, and practices. This fact is witnessed by the Prophet's statement when he was asked about the party that will be saved and spared (from Hell), in which he said: "They are those who are (i.e., live, act, and believe) as I and my companions are today."
Islam Q&A
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid
And may allah reward you but u need to take this incorrect statment down because this can be anleading the peole astray.this is from the scholar's that have the most higher opinion inany other islamic staement and he was the former mufti of where the two noble holy masjid are located. if i said anything good it is from allah and if i said anything wrong it is from my self.AND MAY ALLAH FORGIVE ME AMEEEEN...
Assalamu alykum barakaAllahu feek The rusulldllah s.a.w said:if you see something that is haram you should stop it with your hand if not then speak out against it and if not then you should hate it in your heart.this stament is incorrect
Should he say that he belongs to Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah or al-Salaf al-Saalih?
Is it correct to say that one belongs to Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah or to al-Salaf al-Saalih?.
Praise be to Allaah.
Both are correct. Al-Salaf al-Saalih (the righteous forebears) are the elite of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, and following them is the standard by which Ahl al-Sunnah are distinguished from others.
But what is more important than merely claiming to belong to them is belonging to them in a real sense, in words, beliefs and actions, and following them in that.
Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: Some people objected to saying that one belongs to Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah and said that everyone says that, and it is better to say that one belongs to al-Salaf al-Saalih.
He replied:
The Salaf are Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, and there is nothing wrong with saying that one belongs to them. Rather that is a duty, and he is one of the believers, one of the followers of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, one of the followers of the Sahaabah, one of those who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, one who belongs to the people of truth and does not belong to the people of falsehood, who strives to follow truth path sincerely and does not pay mere lip service, who strives against his inclinations until he becomes sincere. End quote.
Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (28/50)
apparently you miss the whole point , THe term is for the people of the past the 1st three generations, THey themselves called themselves Muslim
but surely we take our religion from the salaf as saliheen
or if u disagree and say from the quran and sunnah, then again ur a 'salafi'
We are only Muslim,
to my understanding salafi only means follower of the salaf as saliheen. how accurate this is in reality? Allah knows best. for instance, i say i am a hanafi, or x, y, and z say they are maliki, etc etc.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
salafis do not try to trick anybody into believing anything masha Allah. Salafis bring text from Qur'an and Sunnah and the narratives of the sahaaba to show which way is the correct way and which way is wrong. Salafis try their best to adhere to the way that is correct period. No one believes that one's self is perfect...we all make mistakes. But why adhere to the way of anyone who wasn't vouched for? An nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم told 'aaisha that he was a good salaf for her. And at another time he صلي الله عليه وسلم said that anyone who isn't upon the way of him and his companions wasn't of him. And everyone knows that Allah says that nabi Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم is a good example for us to follow. So this leaves no doubt who we are to copy in every way, does it not...? And the word salaf first and foremost means the sahaaba. So anyone adhering to them aren't called salaf, they are called salafi. Just like we are called ameriki or hindi, or maliki, etc. Insha Allah you understand now that it is no trick. Bring your proof if you are truthful...I for one would love to read it.
May Al Hakim Kareem bless this person with the screen name ahulsunnah with the best of this world and the best of the hereafter.
