A federal judge dismissed a Muslimah's niqab case. She sued because the judge demanded she remove her niqab. The reason he dismissed the case was because he could not tell if she was telling the truth. Are you kidding me? Many people can't tell if someone is lying with nothing on their face. What would some you sisters have done?

Salaam alaikum, This judge's excuse (and that is what it really was!) was nothing more than a justification by a judge to descriminate against another human being based on APPEARANCE... YES, Appearance. Or in this case, LACK of appearance. Consider this... would the judge have assumed her truthful if he found she was white or black? We know such cases exist... assuming the woman is telling the truth because she is white, yet assuming she may be lying because she is a minority. Or how about the fact that it has been proven that body language, not fact often sways a jury or a judge in a case. Not only body language, but the clothing or should I say COST of the clothing. If you come into court wearing a fancy suit, you are less likely to get a bad sentencing than if you come in an orange jump suit that says "inmate" on the back of it. The fact is, body language plays an inappropriate role in judicial cases, and not FACTS.  Whether the woman had a husband present or not, would have made no difference. She would still need to have appeared in front of the court. So assuming a husband would be a "protector" is nieve. Another bad assumption or argument is to claim that one doesn't believe its fard & therefore those who do shouldn't be protected. Regardless the Muslims need to stand up for the rights of the Muslim MINORITIES in our mists & that includes women in niqab!!! I am tired of the extreme back peddling of so many Muslims to try to act like they wouldn't rock the boat, just because its some practice of Islam they personally don't do! That is how the enemy of Islam divides our Ummah so successfully!! We all need to grow a backbone & demand the religious rights of modesty for ALL women, regardless of whether they veil their faces or cover in some other manner! Modest women have had enough of being sacrificed for the appeasement of those who seek to undermine the Muslim community/unity. Salaam

and where was her husband or other male relatives... was this simply her case versus the rental company?I guess another reason why women need men as protectors, they could have at least fought this case for her without her being exposed like that....and truly Allah is the BEst of Protectors. wa alhamu lillah.

As salaam alaikum,I guess it depends on what your stance is on niqab being fardh.  I find it being a highly recommended sunnah, so i tend not to wear it to work, governement places, etc.... So i personally wouldnt have went into the courtroom with it on...but thats only based on the position of the niqab.  NOw if it was hijab or something, I would have done the same in regards to not taking it off and getting a better attorney, etc.  Someone posted that in some islamic countries they allow tthe women to take off their niqab before the judge, I would have definitely sought the ulema in this regards. wa Allahu alim.May Allah rectify the sisters situaiton, ameen.
