Spreading lies, rumours and backbiting.

Asalamu alikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu dear sisters and brothers,

This is a reminder about those who speak of others behind their backs. The people who speak behind someone's back negatively are of the worst people on the face of the earth. What is worst is listening and propagating that negativity. This creates an illusion among people that they somehow have an idea of the person in question. Backbiting can make the innocent guilty, ruin lives and spread hatred. Is it completely unislamic and must be avoided at all costs. The only possibility when it would be allowed is if the intension is to help the person.

So my dear brothers and sisters, if you hear something about someone, go and ask them if it is true, go back to the source. People have a right to defend themselves against those who accuse them. By backbiting and spreading rumours, this robs that person of their unquestionable right. So beware of the backbiters, sometimes they may have an agenda, sometime they maybe just ignorant, whatever it may be, be on your guard. May Allah(swt) protect us all from deception.

1 - Al-Hujurât [49:12] Recite Verse
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوا كَثِيرًا مِنَ الظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ إِثْمٌ وَلا تَجَسَّسُوا وَلا يَغْتَبْ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًا فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَوَّابٌ رَحِيمٌ
O ye who believe! avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: and spy not on each other, nor speak ill of each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it. But fear Allah: for Allah is Oft-Returning, Most-Merciful.
and said
1 - Al-Humazah [104:1] Recite Verse
وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ
Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and backbiter,
prophet pbuh said :the muslim is who people are safe of his tongue and hand
and said:hold yr tongue , and stay at yr house and weep for yr sins,
and he said: All the Muslim to Muslim is prohibited ( haram)( means property - his blood , his money and his honor)
and he said : most of human sins comes out of their tongue.
And he passed with his companion by a died mule and he said it's better for one of you to eats untell Satiety from this died mule that to mention his brother in what he dislikes.
And he said:the faith if muslin is not straight forward unless his heart is straight forward , and hid heart wont be straight unless his tongue is straight and no man will attend paradise if his neighbor is afraid of his bad deeds.

Good reminder on this important topic. I try to avoid these scenarios completely, but apparently on the net it tends to happen in chat-rooms, which so-far I have avoided completely too. I think it is one of the devil's deceptions to engage Muslims in negative activity rather than what is productive and beneficial for our hearts. May Allah reward you.

as salam alaikum....I deal with this every single day. People at my job always have something to say about the co workers or customers, ugh, it just never ends. I just block it out, because most of the time, it sounds to dumb to be true.
