I wrote the reasons why Muslims should note vote in this election in my blog - http://nafis.muslimblogz.com and you can read it under voting in america. I wanted to add to the list of reasons the fact that you would be supporting someone who supports Israel and the oppression of Muslims in Palestine. One of the things you must be aware of is this: A reason that would put you oustide of Islam.

8 – Supporting the mushrikeen and helping them against the Muslims. Thethe verse in which Allaah says (interpretation of the evidence for that is meaning):

“O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Awliyaa’ (friends, protectors, helpers), they are but Awliyaa’ of each other. And if any amongst you takes them (as Awliyaa’), then surely, he is one of them. Verily, Allaah guides not those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers and unjust)”

Now after reading that, how could you vote for these disbelievers, who extol the haram and support Israel against our fellow Muslims in Palestine? And for those who send me evidence from Scholars who say voting is alright if it will serve our best interest, again I ask what it is that any of them will do for us? Nothing!

The only way to build a better America is to call the people to Islam. Whoever becomes POTUS is NOT going to do that, but will legislate things that are haram and will support Israel in the oppression of Palestine. None of the Muslims who supported Bush have ever told me what he has done for Islam and the Muslims. You know why? because they can't! The same will apply this time around.

Hamza Yousef Is a good Scholar of Islam. Problem with so called salafi group is that who ever doesn't agree with their way of thinking then that person becomes a deviant. Living in this country, we Muslims should take part in politics. Look at the Jewish community, they are all united but the muslims are still fighting over who is salafi and who is sufi and so on and on..... Scholars in Makkah gave a fatwah that living in a non muslim country, it is OK to vote for a non muslim person. With all due respect Niqabimommy if you don't like this non muslim country with full of nonmuslims around you then please migrate to a so called muslim country where you won't be allowed to drive even.

wanted thinkers, movers and shakers. America is a good country full of many good people; Islam is RIGHT for this country. As materialism fails, the political infrastructure becomes more corrupt and media and pop culture consume more and more of the young, people will look towards those who have answers. Will we be hiding in Mosques or "out there" a part of American life, a part of the American political process ready to impact the system and make change? Think about it. To many Muslims have this “us vs them” mentality.

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 born here - then they took an oath to the United States and the Quran lays down SPECIFIC rules for visitors. Historically in the USA many groups that felt under-represented (Irish, Catholics, Jews, Blacks) followed the American political model (to varying degrees) to get that "voice" that was lacking when they were a minority. Example? Look how well Israel turned out! My point is that the motto here in the US should be "love it or change it." Become a force for change. Get involved. Promote and support Muslim politicians. Be a part of the process and not one of the tens of millions who just watches the American political process go by. These are just suggestions, by the way, and not criticism. We do know that Muhammad (pbuh) wan

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I think that you have many valid points and indeed many Americans feel exactly the same way you do despite not being Muslim. For a long time Americans have felt that elections are really just about voting for the "lesser evil." It is your right, and indeed your duty as a citizen to vote. Now remember that "duty" does not mean that you will be forced, it is just a”social expectation.” If you are questioning whether you should participate in American politics at all perhaps try listening to what Sheik Hamza Yusuf says in his lectures about the obligation of young Muslims to weave themselves into the fabric of American life; especially if they were not

Salaamu Alaikum! This issue should be a dead issue. If a muslim believes that we as Muslims actually believe that we have a legitimate voice in this society then they are sadly mistaken! There have been too many comments by politicians and regular people alike that this is a judeao-christian society and the Muslims as a whole have no to very little say so unless we compromise our religious beliefs!!!!!
