Word Study in the Qur'an: The Light

Al-Baqara     Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them (the unbelievers) in utter darkness so they could not see.

--> The unbelievers have no light.

An-Nisa     O mankind! verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: for We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest.

--> The light is closely related to the Qur'an.

Al-Maeda     Wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leadeth them out of darkness, by His Will, unto the light,- guideth them to a Path that is Straight.

--> Allah guides us on the straight path that leads into the light. Since our target is paradise, the light is also closely related to paradise.

Al-Araf     Of the people of Moses there is a section who guide and do justice in the light of truth.

--> The light is closely related to the truth.

Ibrahim     We sent Moses with Our Signs (and the command) "Bring out thy people from the depths of darkness into light, and teach them of the days of Allah." Verily in this there are Signs for such as are firmly patient and constant- grateful and appreciative.

--> So the light is also related to the teaching of the days of Allah. The days of Allah are the six days of creation of the heavens and the earth. This means the light is also related to believe in the creation account.

An-Noor     Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His light is as if there were a Niche and within it a lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the Glass as it were a brilliant star: lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the East nor of the West, whose Oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: light upon light! Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

--> Allah is the light.

Al-Hadid     O ye that believe! Fear Allah and believe in His messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful:

--> The light is a double portion of Allahs mercy: to be guided on the straight path and the be forgiven of past sins.

At-Talaq     A Messenger, who rehearses to you the Signs of Allah containing clear explanations, that he may lead forth those who believe and do righteous deeds from the depths of Darkness into light. And those who believe in Allah and work righteousness, He will admit to Gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever: Allah has indeed granted for them a most excellent provision.
Nooh     "`And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp?

--> The light is also related to the moon, which is the light which guides us in the darkness.

Summary:

The Light is related to the following words: the Qur'an, paradise, the truth, creation, Allah, guidance on the straight path and forgiveness of sins, the moon (symbol for islamic countries).

I would like to summarize it as follows: We will reach our target, which is paradise, when we believe in the truth of the Qur'an, even the creation account. When we do this, Allah will guide us on the straight path, which leads into paradise. We will receive a double portion of Allah's mercy, the fact that we are guided by Allah and that our past sins will be forgiven.
